Derek D. Tarver represents individuals injured by defective products, industrial accidents, medical malpractice, and general negligence. Derek began his career as a corporate defense attorney with two nationally ranked firms, during which he was selected for the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch list for Products Liability Litigation, in 2022 and 2023. However, after years of representing large corporations, his true interest – helping individuals – compelled him to leave the defense practice and to use his skills to represent those in need.

Derek attained his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, magna cum laude, where he received the CALI Award for eight classes, including Torts, Products Liability, Legal Writing for the Courts, Appellate Advocacy, Fourth Circuit Practice, Choice of Law, and Comparative Law. Upon graduation, Derek was selected to the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Wig and Robe. While in law school, Derek served as the Associate Editor in Chief for the South Carolina Law Review, and as torts tutor for Professor Bryant Walker Smith. Derek has since served as a regular guest lecturer at the law school on topics including products liability, personal injuries, and industrial accidents.

When he’s not practicing law, Derek loves spending time with his wife, two wild sons, and one good dog.
