Neil Alger Shares Insight on SCDOT Pothole Cases in The Nerve
For most of us, potholes are just an annoyance, although these nuisances can get expensive with car-repair costs averaging $600 nationally per incident, according to AAA.
For others, the cost of a pothole includes catastrophic injuries and six-digit medical bills. And for the state of South Carolina, the cost has been $4.7 million in settlements for thousands of claims in just the past five years.
Those were the findings of an investigation by The Nerve, a news site that focuses on South Carolina government.
